Francis Parker School (Parker) is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California, with 1,330 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. Job Description:

This opening is Full-time (40 hours per week), Monday - Friday, for the 2026-2027 school year. The School is seeking a Homeroom Associate Teacher with experience working in elementary classrooms.  Instructional responsibilities will involve contributing to and teaching lessons, working closely with a classroom teacher and grade-level team to coordinate curriculum and instruction, and communicating effectively within the school community. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, Homeroom Associate Teachers provide supervision for carline, lunch duty, and recess. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

We are seeking a dynamic, proactive Homeroom Associate Teacher to join our Lower School faculty. This is more than a traditional support role; the successful candidate will work in direct partnership with the Lead Teacher to design, deliver, and differentiate instruction. You will be an integral part of the teaching team, ensuring every student reaches their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnership: Join the Lead Teacher in the daily delivery of lessons, leading small groups, and facilitating whole-class instruction.
  • Collaborative Planning: Actively contribute to curriculum development and lesson design to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Student Success: Maintain an abiding interest in the development of young learners, fostering an environment where every child feels capable and seen.
  • Student Safety: In partnership with the Lead Teacher, maintain a respectful and orderly classroom, and follow classroom and school procedures as directed by the School to ensure the safety of students at all times.
  • Classroom Management: In partnership with the Lead Teacher, maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive learning environment for all students and staff in accordance with School policies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is required, preferably in Education.
  • Credentialed: A teaching credential and/or current enrollment in a credentialing program are required.
  • Experience: Previous experience leading classroom instruction with elementary-aged children is required.
  • Communication: Exceptional writing skills and the ability to communicate professionally with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Organized: Have the ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet many and varied deadlines.

This Full-Time Homeroom Associate Teacher position is paid on an hourly basis, with pay ranging from $24.25 - $29.50 per hour (degree with credential in process) to $32.50 - $38.75 per hour (degree with credential) - based on the number of years of classroom teaching experience.
